Accuracy and Verification
Accuracy is the foundation of our journalism. We publish facts only after reasonable verification and clear sourcing. Where complete verification is not yet possible, we say so and update the story as facts are confirmed.
What we do
- Verify names, dates, numbers and locations before publishing.
- Prefer primary sources: official documents, court orders, records and direct statements.
- Cross-check claims with at least one independent source where possible.
- Use anonymous sources only when essential, with senior-editor approval and additional corroboration.
- Verify images and videos for authenticity and context before using them.
- During breaking news, separate what is confirmed from what is unverified, and label it clearly in the story.
